Kuwait ranked fourth in the Gulf and 57th globally in the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI) after gaining 625 points.

The 25th edition of this semi-annual index, issued by the British Z/Yen Group and the China Development Institute, witnessed the first entry of Kuwait after a long absence from the main rating and being put on a marginal list for failing to meet the required ratings.

The index included the assessment of 112 financial centers around the world, with a main list of 102 centers and a marginal list of 10 centers.

Dubai topped the list of Arab financial centers by ranking 12th in the world, followed by Casablanca in Morocco in the 22nd place, Abu Dhabi ranked 26th in the world, followed by the Qatari capital Doha which ranked 42nd in the world, followed by Bahrain in the 67th place in the world, and the Saudi capital Riyadh ranked 91st in the world. The top spot in the rankings was New York City, followed by London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo and Toronto, and then Zurich, Beijing and Frankfurt.
