El Wakeel: The Egyptian Private Sector is a Partner in the Reconstruction of Iraq

The President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Ahmed El-Wakeel stressed on “the importance of the bilateral Egyptian-Iraqi cooperation in order to maximize the comparative advantages of both countries”.

Al-Wakeel's statement came during a meeting organized by the Federation of Egyptian Chambers with a delegation of Iraqi businessmen accompanying the Prime Minister of Iraq during his visit to Cairo. He said that "the Egyptian private sector has gained considerable experience during the last five years in the field of infrastructure for all sectors, which make him a great contributor in the reconstruction of Iraq," noting that "through the coordination between the private sector of the two countries, many achievements in this field could be realized."

In his turn, Eng. Mohamed Zaki El-Sewedy, the chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries pointed out that "Egypt has witnessed an important legislative development that will contribute to the opportunity to promote the joint cooperation between the two sides through the establishment of economic blocs in different sectors."

The Iraqi side stressed on the importance of cooperation in the field of real estate and infrastructure be-it the basis for any efforts for reconstruction. The two sides agreed to form a committee through the Joint Business Council to follow up the implementation of what will be agreed between the businessmen and the two governments during the visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to Egypt.
