Qatar Banks’ Deposits Increased by 2.3 percent

Qatar Central Bank revealed that the total of bank deposits increased by the end of June by 2.3% from May to reach about 884.19 billion riyals. Public sector deposits increased by about 14.8 billion to reach 280.9 billion riyals in June, compared to 265.2 billion riyals in May, and 265.1 billion riyals a year earlier in June 2019. Private sector deposits in June increased to 392.1 billion compared to 391.8 billion in May, and 362.4 billion riyals a year ago. Deposits of non-residents increased in June by about 3.8 billion riyals from May to 211.2 billion riyals while it was 198.3 billion riyals a year ago.

The facilities granted by banks increased by about 8 billion riyals in June to reach 1067.8 billion riyals from 1059.8 billion riyals last May, and a year ago it was at the level of 971.7 billion riyals. The credit granted to the public sector increased in June to 311.2 billion riyals from the level of 310.3 billion riyals in May, and 295.6 billion riyals a year ago. The credit granted to the private sector increased by 6.9 billion in May, to reach 685.1 billion riyals in June, compared to 678.2 billion in May, and 598.2 billion a year ago. The credit granted abroad in June increased slightly to 71.5 billion riyals from 71.3 billion riyals in May 2020, but it was at the level of 77.9 billion riyals a year ago.
