Algeria Approves a Supplementary Budget to Face the Economic Repercussions

The Algerian government approved a second supplementary general budget, to face the repercussions of the continuing outbreak of the Corona virus and the decline in oil revenues despite the recent recovery in oil prices.

It is expected that Prime Minister Abdul Aziz Jarad will present the preliminary copy to President Abdel Majid Tebboune for review and approval.

In the supplementary budget for 2021, the government proposes a number of measures and measures, some of which are in the category of stimulating and encouraging investment and others related to tax measures to support tax collection, in addition to special measures in the context of strengthening Islamic banking.

The government has allocated 5,660 billion dinars ($ 42.3 billion) for the management budget and about 2,970 billion dinars ($ 22.26 billion) for the equipment budget, meaning a total of 8,640 billion dinars ($ 64.65 billion). The increase in the management budget compared to the first budget is due to confronting the Corona virus and the recession it has left on the economy, as the government decided to raise compensation for health workers and employees as well as interior workers. In addition to allocating more than one billion dollars for the acquisition of "Covid-19 vaccines," allocations have also been approved to support public dealers in the field of water resources and support the milk sector to mitigate the effects of the high prices of milk powder, as well as supporting families in preparation for the reform of the subsidy system, which is expected to be approved before the end of the year.
