Increase in the Qatari Trade Balance Surplus

The merchandise trade balance in Qatar achieved a surplus of 16.7 billion riyals during the month of June of this year, recording an increase of 10.8 billion riyals, or 184.2 percent, compared to the same month of the previous year 2020, and an increase of approximately 0.1 billion riyals, i.e. 0.4 percent compared to May 2021.

According to the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority, the value of the total Qatari exports (which includes exports of local origin and re-exports) amounted to approximately 25.0 billion riyals, an increase of 96.3 percent compared to June 2020, and an increase of 0.3 percent compared to May 2021.

On the other hand, the value of merchandise imports increased during June 2021, reaching about 8.3 billion riyals, an increase of 21.1 percent compared to June 2020, and an increase of 0.1 percent compared to May 2021.

In terms of exports according to the main destination countries, Japan ranked first in the countries of destination, followed by China in the second place, and then India in the third place. As for imports according to the main countries of origin, China ranked first in the countries of origin for the imports of the State of Qatar, then the United States of America in the second place, followed by Germany in the third place.
