Increase in the Total Assets of the Qatari Banking Sector

A report issued by QNB in Qatar showed that the total assets of the Qatari banking sector increased by 0.9 percent during last February compared to the previous month, recording a rate of -0.5 percent in 2022 to reach 1.818 trillion riyals.

The total Qatari banking sector loan portfolio witnessed a slight decrease of 0.2 percent compared to January 2022, to reach -0.5 percent in 2022. While deposits increased by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month, to record -1.0 percent in 2022. According to the report, the public sector pushed the credits down, recording a 1.5 percent decrease compared to the previous month. With deposits increasing by 0.4 percent in February, the loan-to-deposit ratio decreased to 125.5 percent, compared to 126.4 percent in January 2022.

Private sector deposits increased by 2.7 percent, compared to the previous month, to record +3.5 percent in 2022 for the month of February 2022, which resulted in overall gains in deposits. At the level of the private sector, the companies and institutions sector recorded an increase of 4.2 percent, compared to the previous month (to register +3.9 percent in 2022). The consumer sector recorded an increase of 1.5 percent compared to the previous month (to record +3.1 percent in 2022).
