Kuwait Achieves a Budget Surplus for the First Time Since 2014

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance revealed that the budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 achieved a surplus of 6.368 billion dinars ($ 20.77 billion), the first time Kuwait achieved a surplus in nine years. The total revenues amounted to 28.802 billion dinars, of which 26.713 billion dinars were oil revenues, or 93 percent, with an average price of 97.1 dollars per barrel.

Total expenditures amounted to 22.369 billion dinars, of which 78 percent went to salaries and support. Capital expenditure was only 9 percent.
