Egyptian parliamentarian Yasser Omar revealed that the first review of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) of Egypt's economic reform program, which was scheduled for September, has been postponed for the second time, expecting it to take place in the first quarter of 2024.

He pointed out that "the first review of the IMF staff this month will not take place because of the postponement of the government's implementation of some of the commitments it agreed with the Fund during the last agreement."

In December, the IMF's executive board approved a $3 billion loan to Egypt under a 46-month deal. Egypt received its first payment of $347 million in December and the remaining payments were due to be received following reviews by IMF staff.
