"The world is on the brink of a technological revolution capable of stimulating productivity, boosting global growth and increasing incomes around the world," said IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, "but nevertheless, the development of artificial intelligence could replace jobs and deepen inequality."

"The rapid advances in AI have raised important questions about its potential impact on the global economy, but it is difficult to predict the net impact, because AI will spread across economies in complex ways."

The IMF predicts that AI may be replaced by jobs, but nevertheless, the IMF suggests that in many cases AI will complement human work. The IMF estimated that nearly 40 percent of global workers are exposed to artificial intelligence.
