Qatar's merchandise trade surplus fell 28 percent year-on-year in January to QR17.5 billion.
According to data from the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority, the value of merchandise exports in January amounted to 30.9 billion riyals, a decrease of 9.1 percent compared to the same month last year.
The value of merchandise imports during the same month jumped 38.3 percent year-on-year to about QR13.4 billion, the highest ever.
