Yemen has inaugurated the largest solar power plant built by the UAE's Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) to enhance the electricity system in the interim capital of Aden, as the first strategic clean and renewable energy project in the country.

The trial operation of the farm with a production capacity of 20 to 30 percent of the total capacity of the plant of 120 MW has commenced on the road to full operation within a maximum period of three months. The plant is the first mega project to generate electricity from sustainable sources, which will reduce the cost of generating electricity during daylight hours and will contribute to preserving the environment by reducing carbon emissions.
