Jordan's Debt Jumps to $58 Billion amid Escalating Government Borrowing

The Central Bank of Jordan revealed a record increase in Jordan's indebtedness during the first eleven months of last year by 3.092 billion dinars ($ 4.35 billion) to reach 41.58 billion dinars ($ 58.62 billion), constituting 114.8 percent of GDP compared to 38.49 billion dinars and by 111.4 percent of GDP for 2022.

According to the Central Bank, if we exclude what is held by the Social Security Investment Fund, the government’s internal and external debt balance amounts to 32.6 billion dinars, compared to about 30.7 billion dinars at the end of the year 2022.
