Ibrahim El-Araby: German Investments in Egypt Exceed $7.1 billion

Ibrahim El-Araby, President of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, indicated that "the volume of bilateral trade between Egypt and Germany amounted to about 6.05 billion dollars in 2021, compared to 5.573 billion dollars in 2020."

El-Araby pointed out that "the depth of the economic relations between Egypt and Germany, which extends back to seventy years of cooperation, was behind the continuous interest in seizing all opportunities to develop the economic partnership," he explained that "the number of German companies operating in Egypt amounts to about 1,180 companies, with total investments of $7.1 billion in the energy, railways, industry and tourism sectors."

He stressed that "Germany is a major partner in the infrastructure development revolution in Egypt, as German companies are implementing projects worth $33 billion in the energy and railway sectors, in addition, the Egyptian government signed a contract to manage the new railway system with the German Railways Authority for a period of 15 years.”

According to a report prepared by the Tank Egypt Group for economic research and consultancy on trade relations and the common trade balance, Egypt occupies the 59th place among the list of the largest exporting economies in the world.
