Lagarde: The Horizon of the Global Economy is Getting Darker

  • 12 June 2018

International Monetary Fund director Christine Lagarde has led an attack by global economic organizations against President Donald Trump's "America First" trade policy, warning that the clouds on the global economy are getting darker day by day.
Lagarde pointed out that "the Washington-based International Monetary Fund (IMF) insists on its global growth forecast of 3.9% this year and next year,” confirming that the clouds on the horizon, which we referred to about six months ago, are getting darker day by day.
Lagarde added: "The biggest and darker cloud we see is the deterioration of morale that has resulted from an attempt to counter the way trade is conducted, in which relations are managed, and where multilateral organizations operate.”
