The Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) forecasted a GDP growth of 3.4 percent, with the non-oil growth rate at 4.3 percent.
According to the Council, the rapid implementation’s pace of infrastructure projects in the first quarter of 2018, will have a positive impact on the growth of the non-oil sector in the Bahrain Kingdom until the end of the year.
The construction sector, which is one of the main sectors of the Bahraini economy, witnessed a growth of 6.7% in the first quarter of this year. However, the investment momentum adopted by the Bahraini government in the infrastructure sector played a major role in the recovery of the non-oil sector, giving it a growth rate similar to which was achieved in 2017.
These forecasts came after Bahraini strong economic performance in 2017, when the Kingdom of Bahrain recorded the fastest economic growth in the Gulf region at 3.8 percent with non-oil sector growing by 4.8 percent.
