The Economic & Social Council Lifts the Obstacles on Trade Collection & Taxation

The Tunisian Minister of Trade Omar Behi announced the adoption by the Arab Ministers of Commerce and Economy during their meeting with the Economic and Social Council to activate the lifting of the restrictions on collection and taxation on trade in accordance with the agreement respecting the rules of origin concluded between the Arab countries,

Behi, as the President of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab Summit, called for "close cooperation between the countries of the League in the economic and financial affairs and the promotion of comprehensive Arab development within the framework of a developed, interdependent and balanced Arab economy."

He pointed out that "the economies of the region are affected by the stages of the economic downturn experienced by several countries, at a time when the formation of large economic entities in the world," stressing “the need to benefit from the agreements to facilitate and develop the trade and building an Arab economic bloc which has its place in the global economic arena.

Mr. Behi said that winning of the Arab region for the economic bets requires unity of class and effort, integration of visions and common decision, and optimal employment of the capabilities and wealth of our Arab region, which is considered among the richest regions of the world in terms of civilization, nature and human resources.
