Cairo Hosts the Work of the Standing Committee for Labor Affairs in the Union of Arab Chambers

The Standing Committee for Labor Affairs of the Union of Arab Chambers held its 36th meeting on Saturday 13 April 2019 at the Intercontinental Cairo Citystars Hotel, Egypt, on the sidelines of the 45th Arab Labor Conference.

The committee was opened by Dr. Khaled Hanafy, the Secretary General of UAC. H.E. Khalifa Matar Al Kaabi was elected as the Chairman of the meeting and Dr. Abdullah Al Bandar as its Rapporteur. The meeting was attended by representatives of the following Arab chambers and associations: UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco and Yemen in addition to a representative of the Arab Labor Organization.

The Employers coordinated during the meeting, the agenda items of the 46th session of the Arab Labor Conference held from April 14 to 21, 2019. The agenda of this conference includes the discussion of the report of the Director General of the Organization entitled "Labor Relations and the Requirements of Sustainable Development" on the activities and achievements of the Organization during 2018, and consider the resolutions and recommendations of the BOD of the Organization, and follow-up the implementation of the resolutions of the 45th Session of the Arab Labor Conference held in Cairo from 8 to 15 April 2018, the financial and administrative matters, the implementation of Arab labor conventions and recommendations. A memorandum on the 108th session of the International Labor Conference was also released during the meeting, in addition to the formation of the constitutional and regulatory bodies of the Organization, the appointment of the Director General of the Arab Labor Organization for the period from 2019 to 2023, deciding the place and the agenda of the 47th session of the Arab Labor Conference, honoring of Arab entrepreneurs, as well as some substantive items on the agenda.

It is worth noting that the Standing Committee for Labor Affairs of the Union of Arab Chambers holds its regular meeting every year in advance of the Arab Labor Conference, and in includes among its member, representatives of employers participating in this conference.
