Qatar's Budget Achieves a Surplus of $1.3 Billion

The Qatari Ministry of Finance expected that the total public debt will rise by the end of this year to 382 billion riyals, from 371 billion riyals, which represents about 58 percent of GDP.

According to the ministry, the external debt amounted to about 221 billion riyals at the end of the third quarter of this year, while the total internal debt amounted to 162 billion riyals, distributed between bonds and direct loans. Noting that an external debt of 1 billion riyals is due before the end of this year.

The general budget of the State of Qatar achieved a surplus of 4.9 billion riyals ($1.3 billion) at the end of the first nine months of this year, compared to a deficit of 4.2 billion riyals during the same period last year, and the surplus amounted to 900 million riyals during the third quarter, compared to a deficit of 2. .7 billion riyals in the corresponding period of 2020.

It should be noted that in 2021, Qatar did not resort to foreign debt markets to finance the expected budget deficit estimated at 34.6 billion riyals, with a surplus in the general budget of 4.9 billion riyals at the end of the third quarter of 2021.
