A revised reading of the U.S. economy showed better-than-expected third-quarter GDP growth of 5.2 percent compared to the preliminary reading of 4.9 percent.

Although the reading indicates the strongest growth in two quarterly years, expectations point to a slowdown in the growth of the economy, especially in the fourth quarter of the year.

The U.S. Commerce Department warned that the country's economy grew despite fears of an ongoing recession since the end of last year.
