The Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, met with Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef, to discuss cooperation in trade, economic, and investment fields. The meeting focused on the role of the private sector in boosting trade exchange, mutual and joint investments, and strengthening economic partnerships between both sides. It also addressed regular exchange of visits and trade delegations, as well as the possibility of organizing an annual Qatari-Omani trade fair. Additionally, the importance of activating the Qatari-Omani Business Council and setting up an executive action plan to increase trade exchange was emphasized.
During the meeting, ‘Invest in Oman,’ an entity under Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, presented more than 78 investment opportunities to Qatari investors in diverse sectors such as fisheries, food and pharmaceutical industries, manufacturing, technology, minerals, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, and more.
Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani highlighted in his speech that “economic relations between Qatar and Oman have witnessed remarkable development in recent years, with trade exchange reaching about 6.2 billion riyals ($1.7 billion) in 2024, compared to 5.3 billion riyals in 2023, registering growth of 17 percent.”
He also noted that “dozens of Qatari companies are investing in the Omani market, while more than 480 Omani companies registered with Qatar Chamber are operating in various sectors.”
