A high-level German economic delegation discussed during the activities of the third session of the German-Libyan Economic Forum, the return of German companies to work in Libya. It is worth noting that the German-Libyan Economic Forum is being held for the first time in Tripoli after being held in 2017 and 2018 in Berlin.
On the Libyan side, the forum's meetings were attended by the Minister of Economy and Trade, Muhammad al-Huwayj, the Chairman of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture in Libya. Mohamad Al Raiid, the President of the National Oil Corporation, Mustapha Sona allah, and a number of senior officials of the National Unity Government. On the German side, the German ambassador to Libya, Oliver Ovcha, participated to this forum in addition to the representatives of 10 major German companies.
Al Raiid pointed out that "the meeting was positive and has a great meaning, and we expect German companies to start working soon in Libya," noting that "the presence of German companies in Libya opens the way for the return of other European companies."
The German Ambassador Oliver Ovcha described the business climate in Libya after the formation of the national unity government as “very good,” noting that “with this stability, we hope that the activism of German companies will increase and contribute to the country's economy,” stressing that “we have confidence that this development could be latter transformed into active economic cooperation."
