The High Commission for Planning in Morocco revealed that the unemployment rate rose to 13% in 2023 from 11.8% a year ago, in light of the continued decrease in the volume of employment in the agricultural sector due to drought. According to the delegation, the number of unemployed by the end of 2023 reached approximately 1.58 million people. The agricultural sector lost 202,000 jobs after the sixth consecutive drought year.

The youth unemployment rate was higher at 35.8 percent. The rate was 19.7 percent among graduates and 18.3 percent among women.

On the other hand, the Moroccan Office des Changes announced that Morocco's trade deficit reached 286.4 billion dirhams ($ 28.6 billion) at the end of December 2023, a decrease of 7.3 percent compared to 2022.
