The Central Bank of Tunisia recorded growth in net foreign currency reserves since the beginning of this year until August 18, reaching about 24.23 billion dinars (around $8 billion at current exchange rates).

The increase in foreign currency reserves in Tunisia is attributed to improved remittances from expatriates, which reached about $1.52 billion in the first half of this year, up 8.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

Remittances account for 32% of foreign currency reserves and 2% of total tax revenues. They also represent 5% of GDP and about 20% of savings.
