The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, attended the launch ceremony of the Sheikh Saleh Kamel Excellence Scholarship, one of the pioneering initiatives of the Sheikh Saleh Kamel Humanitarian Foundation, adopted by the Union of Arab Chambers as an investment in the Arab individual.

The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo on October 5, under the League’s patronage — a reflection of its steadfast commitment to supporting education and enhancing the developmental role of Arab youth. The event was attended by a distinguished group of senior officials, business leaders, and academics, including H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States; H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Saleh Kamel Humanitarian Foundation; H.E. Mr. Ahmed El Wakil, Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce; media personality Safaa Abu El-Saud; and H.E. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, along with several university presidents and prominent figures from Egypt and the Arab world.

Through this scholarship, the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation aims to support academically outstanding and financially underprivileged Egyptian students in their pursuit of university degrees in modern scientific fields that contribute to Egypt’s economic and social development.

The Foundation also aims to support academically distinguished and financially underprivileged students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a spirit of innovation, by helping them achieve their educational and professional aspirations. The scholarship enables them to earn university degrees in modern scientific disciplines that empower them to develop their local communities and contribute to Egypt’s economic and social development, in cooperation with universities accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.

The scholarship covers all academic costs associated with the chosen field of study, including tuition fees and the cost of textbooks. It continues for the full duration of the academic program, provided the student consistently meets the scholarship’s requirements.

In his remarks, the Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, affirmed that this initiative represents a living model of the fruitful partnership between the Saleh Kamel Foundation and the Union of Arab Chambers — stemming from the belief that education is the cornerstone for private sector growth and for shaping a better future for the Arab region.

He noted that this scholarship program, in its first edition granting support to 25 students, aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030. He added that it marks the beginning of a sustainable path of cooperation under the umbrella of the League of Arab States to deepen partnerships with more universities and to align with the private sector’s aspirations in developing Arab talents.

He concluded by expressing deep appreciation to the League of Arab States, under the leadership of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, for its continuous support of such initiatives and its enduring role in empowering Arab youth and strengthening the role of the private sector.
