China’s export growth accelerated in September, supported by manufacturers seeking buyers in markets outside the United States. Meanwhile, reaching an agreement on tariffs with President Donald Trump remained elusive as investors continued to monitor the latest developments in their ongoing trade conflict.

Customs data showed that shipments from the world’s second-largest economy rose by 8.3% year-on-year last month, compared to a 4.4% increase in August.

In contrast, imports grew by 7.4%, up from a 1.3% increase previously and higher than the expected 1.5% rise.
