Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in the Private Sector and Its Role in Sustainable Development 2025 - Fourth Edition

  • State of Qatar
  • 14 - 15 January 2026

Conference Overview:
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the private sector today constitutes one of the main pillars for achieving sustainable development at both the local and global levels. With the growing economic, social, and environmental challenges, the pivotal role of companies—especially Arab family businesses—emerges as a driving force in building prosperous societies and more competitive and sustainable economies.

The fourth edition of the Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in the Private Sector comes as a high-level platform bringing together a select group of leaders, decision-makers, and experts in the field of CSR. The aim is to exchange knowledge, showcase successful experiences, and highlight best Arab and international practices, with a focus on mechanisms for integrating sustainability and CSR principles within business strategies in Arab family companies—contributing to the enhancement of good governance and responsible practices.

Experience has shown that adopting CSR in a systematic and conscious manner within Arab family businesses can serve as a strategic lever for sustainable development, an effective tool for achieving inclusive economic growth, enhancing social justice, and protecting the environment—ultimately improving community well-being and stability. Family businesses have also become key partners in development, with a role that extends beyond generating profits to include improving quality of life, supporting the local economy, and preserving environmental resources for future generations.

It is worth noting that the Third Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in the Arab World, held at the headquarters of the Union of Arab Chambers in Beirut on 22 July 2025, launched the “Arab Corporate Social Responsibility Index” as a scientific reference initiative to assess institutional performance across various sectors, with the intention of submitting it to the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs for official adoption. This step represents important progress toward establishing a unified Arab approach to CSR.

Conference Objectives:
The conference provides an opportunity to explore the role of new generations in leading the shift toward a sustainable culture within family businesses, while also strengthening social innovation and youth entrepreneurship as a lever for achieving sustainable development. Through working sessions and discussion workshops, the focus will be on building strategic partnerships, enhancing governance and transparency, and assessing social and environmental impact—contributing to the improvement of institutional reputation and investment attractiveness.

First: Governance of Corporate Social Responsibility in Arab Family Businesses.
Second: New generations in family businesses leading the shift toward sustainability.

Conceptual Framework:
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Refers to a company’s commitment to responsible and ethical business practices that go beyond achieving financial profit to include positive contributions to society and environmental protection. These practices include respecting workers’ rights, supporting local communities, rationalizing the use of natural resources, and committing to transparency and accountability in institutional performance.

Sustainable Development: A balanced development model that aims to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable development is built on three interconnected dimensions:

· Economic dimension: Achieving growth, productivity, and financial stability.

· Social dimension: Promoting justice, equality, and improving quality of life.

· Environmental dimension: Protecting natural resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.

The relationship between CSR and Sustainable Development:
CSR is one of the key drivers of sustainable development, as it helps enhance innovation and productivity, provide decent employment opportunities, improve social well-being, protect the environment, and strengthen local communities. When companies effectively adopt CSR practices, they contribute not only to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) but also to improving their competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
