Rise of Foreign Investments’ Value in Qatar

A survey by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics and the Central Bank of Qatar showed that the value of foreign investments in Qatar increased by 682.3 billion riyals by 1% compared to the first quarter of this year, down by 4.9% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2017.
According to data from the joint survey, foreign direct investment in Qatar accounted for 18% of the total value of foreign investments QAR 125.5 billion, down by 4.5% compared to the same period last year. Investments in local portfolios grew by 7.5% on an annual basis to about 101 billion riyals.
On the other hand, the study showed a decline in Qatari assets (investment abroad) by 15.5 billion riyals from the first quarter of this year to 387.3 billion riyals, of which 208 billion riyals in the form of long-term loans and short-term financial instruments related to trade.
