Egyptians' Foreign Currency Deposits Jump More Than Two Billion Dollars

Non-governmental foreign currency deposits in Egypt banks rose by USD 2.41 billion during the first half of this year to reach USD 53.03 billion by the end of June, compared to USD 50.61 billion by the end of 2023, according to the latest data issued by the Central Bank of Egypt.

The data showed that Egyptian banks received foreign savings worth $ 1.36 billion in June alone, bringing foreign currency deposit balances from $ 51.67 billion in May 2024 to $ 53.03 billion in June, the highest increase since the beginning of this year.

In its monthly report, the Central Bank of Egypt revealed that the volume of demand deposits in foreign currencies reached about $ 12.92 billion, while the volume of time deposits and savings certificates reached $ 40.11 billion.
