Saudi Arabia is preparing to launch the first Arabic artificial intelligence model, fully developed and trained within the Kingdom, in late August. The “Allam” program focuses on the Arabic language in all its dialects and includes cultural and political safety safeguards tailored to the region, through the company “Humane.”
Tariq Amin, CEO of Humane — owned by the Public Investment Fund — explained that “the model, built by a Saudi team of 40 researchers, aims to provide responsible AI that reflects the values and culture of the Arab region, with advanced accuracy in understanding local context.”
He added that “Allam” will be launched via the free “Humane Chat” application and will serve as a starting point for establishing a developer marketplace to facilitate AI adoption in the region. He noted that this step represents a qualitative leap in the Saudi and Arab digital transformation journey.
